Special thanks go to Gordon McComb for creating the WordPerfect
for Windows macros. Gordon is the author of a brand new book
called WordPerfect for Windows Power Tools, which is scheduled to
be published early in 1992 by Bantam Computer Books. The book
will come with two high density disks packed with tools you can
use for WPWin. While the emphasis is on macros, it will also
contain material on many other topics, like merges, styles,
fonts, and so forth.
WordPerfect for Windows WinGRAB and WinGDB Macro Instructions
After installing all of the WinGRAB and related files to your new
GRABPLUS directory, you must copy the WINGRAB.WCM and WINGDB.WCM
files to your WordPerfect for Windows macros directory. The
macros directory is shown in the Location of Files Dialog in
WPWin (File-Preferences-Location of Files). This must be done in
order for the macro to modify itself during initial
configuration.
After copying the files from the GRABPLUS to your macros
directory, run the macro by running WPWin and choosing Macro-
Play. Find the file WINGRAB.WCM and choose Play.
As this is the first time the macro is run, it automatically
modifies itself to include the path for the WINGRAB.EXE file.
You will be prompted in a Dialog box for the path of the
WINGRAB.EXE file. If you installed it on your C: drive in a
directory named GRABPLUS, enter the drive and path as
C:\GRABPLUS\ at this prompt. After this is done, you will be
told to restart the macro.
Note: If you entered the wrong path or the WINGRAB.EXE file is
not in the path you entered, you will be prompted again for a new
path name the next time you run the macro.
Once the macro is set up, all you have to do to print the address
is to highlite the address by selecting it with your mouse, then
choose Macro-Play and play WINGRAB.WCM.
You will be given a choice to run WinGRAB immediately or to
display the address and WinGRAB in order to make changes or to
use a different WinGRAB style sheet.
You may also attach the new WINGRAB macro to a menu, or a (much
slicker) put it on the "button bar".
To assign it to the "Macro" menu:
Click on Macro, at the bottom of the menu is a choice that says
"Assign to Menu..." Click that choice and a Dialog will open
titled "Assign Macro To Menu."
Click the "Insert" button, the "Insert Macro Menu Item" Dialog
will appear. This Dialog will allow you to locate the
WINGRAB.WCM file for selection. In the text entry field labeled
"Menu Text" enter "WinGRAB" and accept your entries.
Now when you click the "Macro" pull down, WinGRAB will be a menu
choice.
To assign WinGRAB to the Button Bar:
Click on "View" and choose "Button Bar Setup" then click "Edit."
The "Edit Button Bar" Dialog box will display. Select "Assign
Macro to Button..."
Pick the WINGRAB.WCM macro from the list of files and click "Ok"
to save.
You can use all of the above instructions for installing the
WINGDB.WCM macro which runs the WinGDB database program. You can
paste addresses into your document using this program as well as
maintain your mail merge files.
Note: You can modify the second line of the WINGDB.WCM file to
cause the macro to call up a different file if you like.
To use the WinGDB macro, you'd play the WINGDB.WCM macro which
will call WinGDB into action. Locate an address that you want to
paste into your document and use one of the "paste keys" in
WinGDB. When you are done, exit the program with Alt+X to return
to WPWin and use the Shift+Ins key combination to paste the
address into your document.
